Aharai! was founded in 1997
with the aim of developing young leadership.
We believe that every teenager has both the right and the responsibility to take ownership of their lives and their surroundings.
Our ability to make an impact comes from our dedicated and committed instructors and staff – together creating an Israeli family driven by a sense of social responsibility.

Our Story
For over 27 years, the Aharai! movement has been empowering youth and young adults from all parts of Israeli society – with a focus on the geo-social periphery – to enhance their sense of capability, promote equal opportunities, and strengthen mutual responsibility within and between different sectors of society.
Aharai! operates in 132 local authorities, 47 youth villages and welfare youth frameworks, and 72 ultra-Orthodox yeshivas, running 345 youth groups that serve as “preparatory tracks for adult life.”
Most are three-year programs for teens aged 16–18 from across the social spectrum. Some are 13th-grade pre-army programs, others are gap year initiatives, including programs that integrate youth with special needs and young Arab participants.
Aharai! also runs an alumni organization that supports our 63,000 graduates in their journey toward higher education and meaningful employment.

Our Goals – Theory of Change
If we create a challenging personal and group process for youth from all segments of Israeli society – one through which they experience formative successes,
then we will develop a sense of capability, belonging, and social responsibility in the short term.
As a result, Aharai! graduates will become active contributors to society and will pursue higher education and quality employment in the long term –
leading to the fulfillment of Aharai!’s vision.
